ASECH Participation in Webinar “Smart Cities Opportunities in the Philippines and Indonesia”

On August 6, 2024, ASECH (ASEAN Smart City Center of Excellence) participated in a webinar titled “Smart Cities Opportunities in the Philippines and Indonesia” organized by the US Department of Commerce through the International Trade Administration. This webinar is an important event for stakeholders to explore the potential and opportunities in developing smart cities in the Philippines and Indonesia.

The event opened with remarks from Eric Hsu and Paul Taylor, Senior Commercial Officers from the U.S. Embassy in Jakarta and Manila, respectively. They emphasized the importance of international collaboration in advancing smart and sustainable urban infrastructure in the Southeast Asia region.

In a session discussing market opportunities in Indonesia, Erike Malonda, CEO of ASECH, provided an in-depth look at the smart city landscape in Indonesia. The presentation highlighted the rapid development of smart city initiatives in Indonesia, driven by government programs such as “100 Smart Cities” and participation in the ASEAN Smart Cities Network (ASCN). Erike emphasized that ASECH has a critical role in facilitating collaboration between the public and private sectors, and encouraging the adoption of smart technologies to improve the quality of life in cities.

ASECH sees its participation in this webinar as a strategic step to strengthen relationships with international stakeholders and open up new opportunities for collaboration that can accelerate the transformation of Indonesian cities into smart cities. This webinar also provides an opportunity for ASECH to share experiences and learn from best practices implemented in the Philippines, especially in terms of technology integration and urban infrastructure management.

With the presence of ASECH at this event, it is hoped that more smart city initiatives can be developed in Indonesia, in line with the national vision to create a more efficient, sustainable and environmentally friendly urban environment.

The “Smart Cities Opportunities in the Philippines and Indonesia” webinar became an important platform for ASECH to strengthen its role as a center of excellence in smart city development in ASEAN. ASECH’s active participation not only enriched the discussion on market opportunities in Indonesia but also confirmed their commitment to advancing smart city technology in the region.
